Apocalypse Watch

SETI in Britain searches 28 million radio channels for patterns.
There are 100 billion stars in our milky way. There are many other milky ways, too. If each star were the size of a grain of salt, it would fill an olympic sized pool. 50% of stars harbor planets -source: the science channel

In 1999, Nasa discovered three worlds orbit the star upsolon andromedine. It’s 320 million million miles away. Planet hunters can only see jupiter sized planets.

Life found in Antartica and volcanos prove that life can survive anywhere there is water, even boiling water. Life can survive up to 133 degrees centigrade. There has been water on Mars.

Carl Sagan has an interesting quote about how our consciousness will change with discovery of intelligent life.

Ratzinger is definately the choice to advance the surrender of our church. We are on schedule for 2012. Look busy, people.

Household chore relief will free the masses for the time it takes to love.

China.
Instigators of the Beijing protests flee their country like Miami Cubans. One of them with a degree in Asian history from Harvard speaks now of changing the system using the system… not with overthrow.

The image of one man holding up the convoy of tanks is indeed inspiring, eh?

First bike ride of the year really kicked my butt. The thoughts running through my head were fascinating, very negative.
I’m off work for 3 weeks. I want to go to grad school.

I met with the ubercounselor who had forgotten the meeting so she spotted me a session. We will do a values workshop or a meyersbriggs. I look forward to learning what my values are.

Toured the Schlafly Bottlewerks for Joe’s Birthday.
Christine is at Notre Dame. I’m proud.
I’m reading “Brainsex.” I want to read “crucial conversations.” I have a copy of “Kiterunner.” I will not touch San Andreas. I will not touch San Andreas. I will not touch San Andreas.

Feelings

Saturday, April 2nd, 2005

There are 6 emotions:
happy, sad, angry, surprise, dissappointment, fear.

There are hundreds of feelings:
they are combinations of emotions & cultural experience.

I was advised in the Novitiate to not have feelings about my feelings, but to observe my feelings, take them for what they are worth. Go ahead and evaluate ‘em: where do they come from, what are they urging you to do, etc. But don’t be upset when you’re not happy.

With dad and the pope leaving me here on earth to fend for myself, plus my day to day emotional rollercoaster gives me many opportunities to practice the above advice. Often I find myself upset, frustrated, or angry that I’m not sad when I’m supposed to be, or more often, simply not happy all the time.

As I type this, I’m upset about my budget. I found myself upset that I’m upset, too. I feel good when I think that I’m DOing a budget. Perhaps the feelings about our feelings are what give them such momentum.

Feeling advice #two: Our thoughts influence our feelings and our feelings influence our thoughts.

Dear Friends and Family,

I recently accepted the challenge of riding in the American Diabetes Association’s Tour de Cure fund-raising event. I am taking part in this event because I believe in and support the Association’s mission: to prevent and cure diabetes and to improve the lives of all people affected by diabetes.

You, too, can help by supporting my fund-raising efforts with a generous contribution. Your tax-deductible gift will make a difference to more than 18 million Americans who are affected by diabetes and another 20 million who are at risk for developing diabetes. It is faster and easier than ever to support this great cause - you can make your donation online by simply clicking the link at the bottom of this message. If you would prefer, you can also send your tax-deductible contribution to me at the address listed below.

More information on the American Diabetes Association, its programs, and diabetes in general can be found at the Association’s Web site: www.diabetes.org. To find out more information on Tour de Cure, please visit tour.diabetes.org.

Whatever you can give will help! I greatly appreciate your support and will keep you posted on my progress.

Peace,

Kurt Gerwitz
