“My freezer doesn’t even get that cold.”
-Angelo Butch Rini

Months ago, the weather was better and I scheduled a camping trip for this upcoming weekend. The projected temperature high for this upcoming weekend is 20 degress Fahrenheit.

Parallels: BIST/Starbucks, Communion/Caffine

Friday, January 12th, 2007

Today, I met with Phil Pusateri from De La Salle Middle School at St. Matthews. I remember how much I love those kids, that staff and Phil. The white knight in me stirs within me. (http://www.cmi-lmi.com/kingdomality.html)

I respect the culture of Starbucks and am pleased to make comparisons between Starbuck’s Partner Development Plan, BIST’s BIST Plan for Success, and education’s Standard’s Based Education (SBE). What do we expect the learner to be able to do? How will we measure this?

In transitioning from De La Salle (DLS) to Starbucks, I face a new, secular existence. I used to pray to St. John Baptist de La Salle. I read how he instructed his teachers and students. Now Charles Schultz pours his heart into it. Faithful folk used to line up to see me to get a cross of ashes onto the forheads. Now, secular folk line up to see me mark their cups at Starbucks.

Let’s play with Kurt’s timewarped brain

Thursday, January 11th, 2007

Here’s a list I found today titled Kurt’s birthday wishlist. I’m approaching my half birthday, which of course will be celebrated in three countries on April 9th. (One country will celebrate on the 10th) Anyway, let’s assess.

1) computer $1099 new, refurb cheaper
2) faster bike $10,000
3) professional fitting 60-300$
4) handle bar shock absorbers
5) Salsa Lessons for two
6) iPod player
7)
8) Windshield for the car
9) Acts of service
9a) educational consulting research
9b) wash, wax, detail Vicky
9c) synch my farm gps data to google style map
11) timbur cunsulting for farm
12) energy cunsulting for farm, rental property
9d) fix bathroom light in rental property
14) nice leather bag for computer and business papers.
15) grocery money

Observations:
1) The weather must have been warmer, since I was thinking about my bike (Leeroy) and my car (Vicky). (Jeesh, who names their schtuff?)
2) I still need all these things!!! Katie got me #14 for Xmas. I haven’t thought of #6 in a long while. Why is #7 blank? What goes there?
Apple iPhone anyone?

Quote of the Day

Wednesday Lunch with Hans is ten times more interesting than Tuesdays with Morrie.
Topics of the day was the iPhone and mine task management, which oddly enough did not get combined as topics.
The quote of the day, however, did not come from this. It came from Tom Anstey many moons ago.
The time value of money is calculated with the formula xnow (>, <, =) x future.

I may not understand how the mind processes time even though I am reading a description of that very phenomenom, but I am able to recognize that the game ran slow.
I’ve pimped my iBook with a new battery and a new hard drive, but not more RAM.
