Quote of Day
Friday, March 21st, 2008Be absolutely ruthless with your time, focus in on your goal and rip through the bad stuff like a greased Masserati on ice. http://www.lyndonantcliff.com/positive-thinking/distraction-will-drive-you-into-mediocrity/
Long time no blog
Saturday, August 11th, 2007Computer crashes, a vacation, and several job changes have taken my energy away from blogging. The blog lacks focus, yet I resist adding structure. Hope says it’ll evolve into something beautiful, attractive, meaningful.
It seems to attrack daily quotes, retaining elements of the infamous “quote board” from college. The quotes can be inspiring, funny, distant, canned, intimate, momentos. Their sources and direction are undefined. ‘Tis odd they don’t answer what did God try to teach me today.
Starbucks blabbing: I have suppressed my adventures at Starbucks for the 12 months that I have been there. Here’s how corporate it feels:
My observations covered the gamet. Am I a lifer? I work very hard at minimum wage to help Howard Shultz make his 4 million dollars a year. This company is really doing something great for the world. Look how Starbucks has transformed Danielle’s and Mario’s poverty experiences, giving them a foundation where our education and social welfare system failed. Look at Tameca, inspired by brightening so many people’s days. We push a legal drug here, an IQ score raising drug. What a waste of my time. I’m not learning anything here.

The system
Monday, April 2nd, 2007Do your homework, come to class with questions, ask questions, listen to next lesson, do your homework, rinse and repeat. No wait… that’s my 9th grade algebra teacher Mr. Cauglin’s system… here’s mine:
Step one: Record any idea as voice memo on cell phone.
Two: at 9pm nightly, listen to voice memos typing them into “to-do” list on iCal.
Three: prioritize
Four: drag important ones into time slots on calendar
Five: set alarm
Six: sync to phone.
Phone tells me what to do, when to do it. Let go and let system. Become a slave to the system that you control. David Allen would be proud.
I just can’t figure out why I didn’t make a million dollars at 7:30pm tonight. It’s what I systemed to do. (yeah, I went there. I verbed “system.”)

Wash your car day in St. Louis
Wednesday, March 21st, 2007I rolled up the window as Katie deftly swerved around a fellow pressure washing his car on Broadway…. at night… in the dark…. His girl sat in the driver’s seat and he was wearing a jumpsuit. He was supposed to be pressure washing the side walk at Met Square. Funny!
Starbucks St. Louis
Tuesday, February 6th, 2007Today it was so cold we could have shaved some labor time by keeping the refridgerater doors open… nothing would have spoiled.
